Course concept
Three-dimensional virtual craniomaxillofacial surgical treatment planning utilising patient-specific solutions has significantly developed during the last decade. These new technologies are intended to optimize the predictable transmission of the treatment plan allowing accurate intraoperative repositioning, to obtain an optimal aesthetic and functional outcome. This course aims to explore the current difficulties and newest innovations in custom made TMJ replacement (TMJR) focusing on specific areas. Why did prosthesis fail in the past? Why should TMJR be patient specific and how does anatomical design leads to better clinical outcome? How can we treat pediatric and syndromic patients with TMJR?
Target audience
- Maxillofacial surgeons performing TMJ surgery
- Biomedical engineers
- Surgeons and residents interested in latest innovations in CMF surgery
